Welcome, once again, to Happy Thursday! Please play along with Mr. Linky, below, and tell us all what’s making your Happy Thursday. Something fun going on? A good week? Or are you just glad it’s nearly the weekend? Grab the Walter button and link back here. And have a Happy Thursday!
For me, no big surprise. I’m so happy to be back at home. While there were bright spots to our Florida trip, it was overall completely draining and much more stressful than relaxing. So even though it’s barely 40 degrees here in Massachusetts and we’ve got a really lovely, slushy rain-snow mix going on right now, I’m glad we’re here. The kids are getting back into the swing of things and I think are glad to be back in their own beds. Our scheduled activities are such that we’ve jumped right back into music class, play time, and even our new gymnastics class (more on that later!).
The only trouble is that I’ve yet to get any kind of real break. While I had help down in Florida, there was still the feeling that I was constantly “on,” always the primary in charge. M has done his very best to be extra helpful, and even took Tuesday off when we got home, but other than that he obviously still has to go to work, and I’m still in full-on mommy mode. I need a break. A vacation after my vacation. We’ll see if I can manage it this weekend. I already have a haircut scheduled on Saturday, and I’m hoping to add some indulgences to that list, like a massage and a facial. I really, really need a quiet day all to myself. Let’s see if I can find the time to call and make the appointment, right?

I wish you lived closer because I would totally tell you to drop your kids off for a playdate with my gang and have a few hours to yourself. I cannot even comprehend how exhausted you must be after your “vacation” last week. I know I’m tired just from the one, tough transition night when we all got home again.
Sorry that the vacation was not as relaxing as planned! We are heading to Tucson for 3 weeks so I am stressing out about the flight and the girls health. Good luck getting that rest in on Saturday.

Dear god woman!
I wish I could increase the font size within WordPress Comments, but since I am unable, imagine this in 72-point font:
PICK UP THE FRICKIN’ PHONE AND MAKE THOSE APPOINTMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You 110% do deserve a vacation after your “vacation”. That is how I felt after our trip to Maui. It was emotionally and physically draining…and, HELLO?!?, that is not supposed to happen when you are on V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!!

Good Lord, Liz, you really need a break! If I could afford it, I’d send you on a mini-cruise (just a day or two, so you don’t miss the kids too much) or something. I hear you on needing a vacation from vacation. We fly back tomorrow, and on Sunday, I plan to have a VERY relaxing day. And by relaxing, I just mean as Jack-free as possible. That sounds so bad. I mean, I love Jack as much as it’s possible to love someone else (and then some), but after a month of being glued to his side 24-7 (and sleeping in the same room at night! Ugh), I’m ready for some solo time. Even if that solo time consists of doing taxes or unpacking, it will feel like a vacation!

Why is it that vacations can be more exhausting than relaxing. KNOW you are glad to be home, and I hope this weekend finds you facial-ed, massaged and manicured!
Take it easy, and let the laundry lie…
