A month in haiku.
Strange experiment, but hey,
I hope you liked it.
I’ve done some version of NaBloPoMo several times over the last few years, and I’m never sure quite what I think of the experiment. Certainly I’m glad when it’s done – some days I really don’t have much that I want to say and it feels weird and forced to come up with an excuse to hit “Publish.” It’s not a bad exercise. For one thing, I feel more free to post short snippets instead of necessarily coming up with a longer, more cohesive essay. Little (and sometimes literal) snapshots into our world are kind of fun. On the other hand, I feel like the pressure to come up with something before midnight each night means I am actually less likely to write about the bigger topics that are on my mind.
What do you guys think? Is it something worth doing? Something you enjoy reading? I don’t notice any obvious changes in traffic or comments, so I don’t think that’s a helpful indicator of whether this is resonating with anyone or not. Would you want me to try to post, say, every weekday? Or would you rather I stick with my current every-now-and-again, when-I-really-have-something-to-say, frequency and not clog up your feed readers?
One way or another, thanks to all of you for reading, and thanks even more for when you leave a comment. It really does make my day when I get to tell you about these three jokers and you tell me that it meant something to you, or made you laugh, or anything else. You guys are awesome.
And I promise to lay off the haiku for a while.

I kind of love haiku, so I’m a bit sad to learn, on November 30, that there is such a thing as National Blog Posting Month and that I have missed 30 days of your haiku. I’ll have to read back. How do you feel about limericks? I know they are not nearly as elevated an art form as haiku, but I do love a well crafted limerick!

PS that picture of your jokers make me miss those “tumble up” days!

I loved it. Every day is a freaking chore, but 3 days a week would do. I like the tweets because you are blocked at work so I can’t check you in my rotation, and the tweets send me your way.
I think your posts give more of a connection to your readers than you realize, but somehow it shouldn’t be too much of a burden.
More posting = happy Lindsay, but I know about blog burnout. I would hate for that to happen! And I love your sewing projects, so I don’t want to take away from sewing time. But I love to read it, mundane or not.
POST MORE! I love your blog! I’m always thrilled when you have a new post. Are you still considering doing a question/advice section? I always thought that was a good idea. Might be something to think about if you need topics. But, whatever, just keep posting!!!!
I really loved hearing more from you – even when you didn’t feel like you had anything to say. Frankly, I even like pictures an a caption once and a while – I just like knowing you are out there and feeling the solidarity!
I certainly enjoined it a lot!
I loved reading your haikus and more this month!
i just love checking in and hearing how you’re all doing. As a mom of soon-to-be 3 yo b/g twins, i love seeing Daniel and Rebecca and hearing what they’re up to. And Ellie…she’s just pure joy. Keep writing!
I LOVE hearing anything you want to write. Short posts, photo posts, haikus, long posts. Whatever it is that you write, I read even if I don’t comment. And it makes my day better whenever I get to hear you in more than 140 character bursts. No pressure or anything, just wanted to let you know I am an adoring fan of anything you want to share with the world.

I love reading your blog but understand feeling like you “need” to post. I think that anything is better than nothing. I agree with a previous comment regarding just posting pictures. I often think about posting just that and nothing else to have something to look back on.
I totally enjoyed a month of daily haikus from you! You’re blog is where I go when before I dive into the backlog of work I need to do and the more entertaining, thought provoking, silly posts you make, the happier I am!
Thanks Liz!

Well, you know I’m a fan so I’d love to see more posts, even snippets here and there
Have been lamenting in my mind the upcoming end of November and loss of “everyday Goddess”, but don’t want to add pressure. Suffice it to say, whatever and whenever you post, I am here, happily reading.
I really liked the extra Blog posting and the haikus! And would like more posting, but I know the blogged out feeling of having to come up with something everyday.
So Every weekday is asking to much but I think 3-4 times a week would be nice. JMHO
Im a lurker/fan who really enjoyed the everyday posts and would love to see more! But I echo the other commenters in saying you shouldn’t feel pressure or burnout could take you away entirely
as a mom of 11week old twins, I love seeing the progress of yours, and short frequent posts inspire me to get on it and post to my blog too! Thanks for writing!
