Count us in, we’ve voted!

It’s a perfect election day here in Massachusetts. A bit warmer than average in the low-60s, barely a cloud in the sky, not even any wind to speak of. We’re no swing state, of course, but my suburban polling place was certainly hopping and busier than usual at 10:30 in the morning. The only “line” was waiting a minute to tell the nice poll worker my street name and address, as there were a whopping five people in front of me.
Rebecca went with M, Daniel stayed with me. A little tricky wrangling an active 15-month-old and trying to concentrate on voting, and I did make one big, stupid mistake. I was so busy making sure I voted for Obama and Kerry and all of those, and then running down the seemingly never-ending list of random, unopposed school board candidates…
I totally neglected to turn the damn ballot over and vote for the three ballot questions in Massachusetts. I had even researched all three and come up with an opinion, but didn’t realize until after I got home that I didn’t manage to vote on them. Crap. But hey, I did the main thing I went there for: I voted for Barack Obama.
It was exciting, and I feel really proud to have been a part of today’s election, and that my kids were there with me. Even if they’re too young to have any idea what’s going on. I didn’t manage to get anyone to take our picture at the polling place, but I snapped a few when we came home and played in the yard.

- Rebecca wants “more” people to vote Obama!

- Daniel calls his people to check on exit polls.
In truth, I’m kind of a big stress-case today. I’m frayed, I’m on a short fuse. The kids are screaming about nothing, and I just don’t have the patience for it. I can only guess it’s the same anxiety about the election results that had me restless and not sleeping well last night.
My sister-in-law and possibly one or two other people are coming over tonight to hang out and watch the returns. I’ve got a pork roast in the slow cooker with some barbeque sauce, because I know that’s about the extent of cooking I’ll be capable of tonight. I just really, really hope that they can call it at a semi-reasonable hour. I need some sleep, for crying out loud! Ah, the down-side of being on Eastern Standard Time.
Anyways, I hope everyone else has gone out and voted! Now we’ll just have to wait………

We had all voted by 8:30am this morning!!! For McCain, of course. Just joking–we vote blue in my family, even my 98 year old grandfather voted for Obama. Anyway, if you think ONE 15 month old is distracting, try voting with two 18 month olds in tow! They were pretty good, but still…goodness.
One thing I love about where I live, everyone votes by mail. So I voted in the privacy of my own home over the course of a few days, so I could really read/research the measures. I mailed it last week and don’t have to figure out how to get two 7 month olds out to the polls in the rain today!
Your lawn photos are adorable!

If it makes you feel any better, Ed just told me I missed out on the proposition. In NY, all the offices are on the top left, and the lone proposition was on the bottom right – I didn’t see it and I even looked below on the left-hand side but I totally did not expect something on the right. Ah well – at least it wasn’t anything super-major to me.
Finn wore the same shirt that Daniel has on today! “Voted Mr. Amazing!”. Reid’s says, “Voted Best Dressed”…with a make vest and tie.
This morning we made an awesome video of the boys saying, GO! GO! GO! whenever we said “Barack Obama” and doing something “else” when his opponents name was mentioned.
We’ll see if I can’t get it up on the ol’ www after work.
I quadruple checked my voter ballot this morning to make sure I filled in the correct bubble. Then, I questioned myself for about 10 minutes afterward. I did the same thing when I did the DNA test for the boys zygosity. Did I put Finn’s cheek swab in the correctly marked test tube? Or did I put it in Reid’s.
I guess it is Tangent Tuesday for me today.
HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!!

Woohoo… you guys ROCK.
Wow, I don’t even try to stay up for election results. Too sleepy, I’ll find out in the am.
I’m sorry you missed the ballot initiatives. There were some crazy ones…I had some pretty strong opinions about those and the income tax ridiculousness alone would have drawn me to vote today!

Katie and I voted for Obama two weeks ago. I am now waiting breathlessly for results. We need great leadership, and vision. We have that. Oh, I am so looking forward to the next four years. I. Can’t. Wait.
