For those who didn’t know the reference from Sunday’s post, the quote was from a Backyardigans Episode, Race Around the World. M and I have had it stuck in our heads ALL. WEEK. LONG.
At any rate, here we are for another installment of Thursday Theater! Mr. Linky is not super cooperative these days, so if you’re joining the party, just say so in the comments.
I took this video over the weekend. Hat tip to my friend Jane for the idea, when she busted out some big buckets and a hose the last time we had a playdate at her house. It seemed to be a hit, so I found two 5-gallon buckets in the garage and the sand toys my in-laws got to go with the sandbox (containers pilfered from the recycling bin work just as well). Obviously, it’s an activity for a warm day, and you simply have to accept the fact that they’re going to be soaked within minutes.
We all know that toddlers have notoriously short attention spans. For Rebecca, apparently, one major exception is this type of water activity. It was unreal how long she continued to play with two big buckets and a couple of smaller pouring implements.

An hour and twenty minutes?!?! Wow! That is impressive.

It’s Thursday already! No, I need another day or two in my work week. Anyway, Love, Love, her concentration. Penny is a lot like her in that respect. And the sign language with accompanying verbal explanation was adorable. Was that M’s legs in the frame from time to time?

What a great idea for an activity! We have a small blow up pool and I am pretty sure they play in it every day. I need to get some big buckets though and put them to work watering our plants!

Wow. Looks like you have a waterbaby on your hands. Speaking of…are you still taking them to the pool? Great video, by the way. I love how you edited the end of it to show the passage of time.

What do you use to edit your videos? That song was PERFECT!

That is my favorite video that you have done so far!!! Very nicely done.
I look forward to seeing videos of your kiddos every week! I can’t believe the water occupied her attention for so long! Another great idea we’ll have to remember! BTW, she looks adorable with the clips in her hair!
they play so nicely together!! and what a great way to keep them occupied, too. Gosh, I love summer…

So cute! Its nice when the weather cooperates and the kiddos can do water play outside! In the kitchen sink is also fun but last time so much water spilled out it leaked through to the basement!

Love it! The water buckets must rank right up there with the cardboard box for cheap kid entertainment. I will have to try that with my two once the california weather decides to warm up.
